Article Directories Are Dead!

Hearing me say this might be upsetting to a few people. After all, Article Content King members (that’s you) collectively submit over 2000 articles a week to our article directory at Article-Content-King.com (our sister site 4 year old article directory) and I’m very grateful that you do. But if you think you’re going to increase your web site’s page rank and search engine ranking through submitting articles to as many article directories as you can, you’re going to be sadly disappointed.

The effects on page rank and search rank has been on the decline for years. Back when with articles was a new concept and there were only a few article directories around, you could submit pretty much anything and your traffic and search engines would increase because of it.

BUT NOT ANYMORE!!

Did you know that back links on your articles at article directories count very little towards your site’s Page Rank?

It’s true. Google and other search engines know how easy it is for anyone to get links from such sites, so they don’t pass any “link juice” (Page Rank) to your articles. I know people are still telling you that this is the way to market with articles — just submit your articles to as many sites as you can and keep submitting. But this simply is NOT true anymore. You’re wasting your time, and perhaps your money, by taking this approach.

does still work, however. As a matter of fact, it’s still one of the best ways to promote a business for free. But, you can’t rely on the directories alone to send you traffic and link power.

The benefit of submitting articles FREE at Article-Content-King and the other directories comes when the directory publishes lists of newly submitted articles to those who might be interested in using your content for their website, or, better yet, their blog.

It’s only when your content gets picked up by someone and used on their web site that your article can begin to benefit your site’s search engine ranking, Google Page Rank, and more importantly, your reputation as a trusted expert in your niche.

Bottom line on free article submissions: If you are marketing with articles and submitting them all over the Internet, keep the focus on the quality of the content and NOT how many places you submit your article to. Quality will help you get your article noticed and used by a site or blog owner. Quantity just means you have a lot of the same articles posted all over the Internet that are doing very little to help you get noticed at all.

We’ve made it a lot easier for people to find and pick up your free articles by making your author feed more accessible. This also helps you find more and creative ways to link to your content and get traffic from people looking for content to use on their website. But all these enhancements are nothing in comparison to the benefits of submitting AdSpace Articles.

Having watched the video on how well articles are ranking on our site, you may think to yourself — “GREAT! I have loads of junk articles I can post and I don’t mind paying if I can get THOSE results!”

Hold on now! Content is still king. We don’t have a magic system that can get any content, no matter the quality or lack there of, to the top of Google.

Articles submitted to ArticleContentKing, the WordPress blog, are moderated very carefully. We have RULES you have to abide by. We also have the power to suspend and delete your articles if we feel they don’t meet our quality standards.

The “AdSpace Articles” you submit should be ONLY your very best articles. Unique, useful and well thought out articles.

If there is one thing I learn in my time studying the videos content as a Stompernet member, it’s this.

The game is not to try to ‘game’ Google.

Google, believe it or not, wants to make money by being the best search engine delivering the most relevant results. In order to do this, they have to find the best content out there to display whenever anyone searches for something.

It’s a Herculean task. Just imagine if, every time you went to Google, you didn’t find what you were looking for. Would Google be a popular search engine?

The game is not to game Google! The game is to write the best information you can on the topic you want to get traffic for, then learn how Google ranks good sites.

I can and will teach you this through the forum and this newsletter. BUT, if your content stinks, then no one is going to want to read it and it’s never going to get ranked where you want it to.

I’m sure the good writers and savvy marketers are breathing a sigh of relief now that I have said that.
