So it is your final year of college and you are getting ready to jump head first into the real world. Before leaving college there are several things you need to do for yourself, and to prepare for the near future. Below is the list that can save you time and unnecessary stress. Ensure you fulfilled all college credit requirements Meeting with an academic advisor will ensure you dont become a statistic that unexpectedly falls behind due to a mishap with your schedule of classes. Even if you are behind just one class, that is one more semester or summer course you will have to take to receive your degree. Ask your advisor to ensure you fulfilled all general education requirements, took all necessary higher level courses for your major, and if there is a problem see if you can fix it and still graduate on time. Begin a job hunt The job market once you are out of college is less than prime so any advantage you can gain will help. Beginning your job hunt early will let you sort through more prospective employers earlier than most. Apply everywhere and try to interview often. Even if you think you wont get the job, or you dont want the job, learning to become comfortable during an interview will help you immensely. The stress of repaying your loans or other student debts will greatly decrease when you know you have a job lined up. Evaluate your future living situation Do you know where you want to live after college? If you are renting a house or apartment do you like it so much you want to stick around? Do you want to live back home? Whatever your choice is, you should make arrangements early. Whether its simply telling your landlord you want to stick around and signing a new lease or figuring out how you are going to get your stuff to your new home, its best to get ready early. Get ready for graduate school If you intended to immediately continue your education after college, then you need to ready to get your graduate school applications in on time. Make sure you meet any admission requirements before applying. Dont forget about financial aid and scholarship opportunities, as these are often first come first serve just like when you were a freshman. Remember its your last year Your college experience is going to end before you know it. Remain serious about your classes and other activities, but also make the most of the time you have left. Going out with friends and having a good time is nothing to stop doing as long as you are still on track with your classes and academic schedule. If youve worked hard, and if youve budgeted your time well, then youll have nothing to worry about your for your final year of college.
