Why Send Flowers

If you are engaged in the flower business, then you ought to know that the strength of being a florist is that the products you sell are perishable. Yes, I know, some people call it a weakness, but in the flowers business, it isn't. Consider these factors:
• If you have a nice house, and a family, chances are, you have almost everything you'll need, probably more. If the kids are still young, then it's very possible that there are tons of clutters inside the house. Now imagine every occasion and all the gifts you receive - probably a watch for your anniversary, a lamp for xmas, and many others. All these add to the clutter and it can be pretty difficult to dispose of, especially when you think about its sentimental value. Sure the watch is more than 10 years old and is no longer working but can you really throw it out when you start thinking about that wonderful anniversary dinner 10 years ago? If your husband gave you roses instead, you wouldn't have a choice. First, you enjoy the beauty of its colors, petals and even the leaves. Smell it as many times as you want, but when its ready to wilt away, you have no choice but to throw it away. Throwing them away doesn't really mean that you didn't appreciate them because as soon as you start smelling the flowers, your husband's "ego" would've been boosted already, so he wouldn't care less what you do with it afterwards.
• Flowers makes us happy, they make us smile for days or probably weeks. When it is given to us as a gift, we know what its purpose is, and most specially, we know that it is for us to enjoy - not for someone else to see, or to bequeath to future generations. When someone spends a few dollars to give you flowers, you know that they're spending it to make you happy, to see you smile. With any other gift, you will feel required to give that person something as beautiful and expensive, but this isn't the same when it comes to flowers. When you receive flowers, the sender genuinely wants you to enjoy the flowers.
So are you thinking of buying someone "stuff"? Or planning to buy "stuff" for yourself? Think about how they can use it and for how long. Do they really need it or are you just going to send them more clutter? Think about why you want to buy them anything, because perhaps, all they need today is for the day to become brighter. What better way to give them that but sending them flowers?
How many times have you received flowers? How many times have you sent someone flowers? I'm guessing, not too many. It's probably due to the fact that when people are trying to decide what gifts to give, they always disregard flowers because it is perishable. But the fact is, a memory of a bouquet of flowers stays forever - isn't that what gifts are for?
