Are you looking for some great pectoral exercises that will get you a ripped, well developed chest? You know, the kind of chest development that will have the other guys at the beach jealous and the girls staring at you with lust in their eyes. Of course that's what you're looking for so let's get right into it, shall we?
There's all sorts of great pectoral exercises to choose from (dozens actually), so I'll try to narrow it down a bit.
Pressing Movements: Pressing movements such as push ups, dumbbell presses, barbell presses, seated machine presses even parallel bar dips all train the pectorals. Actually, in most cases, pressing movements are the best way to train the chest because they're all considered to be "compound exercises".
Compound exercises are multi-joint, multi-muscle exercises and if you're looking to increase your strength and muscle mass, you absolutely need to do them. They're really the bread and butter of your workout routines.
With these pressing movements, you'll be training your chest, the front of your shoulders (anterior deltoids) and your triceps. The benefits derived from chest pressing movements translate well to all sorts of athletic movements as well.
So, to recap, here are some good pressing exercises..
- Decline Barbell Press
- Decline Dumbbell Press
- Flat Barbell Press
- Flat Dumbbell Press
- Incline Barbell Press
- Incline Dumbbell Press
- Seated Chest Press Machine
- Push Ups
- Parallel Bar Dips
.. And plenty more as well.
Fly Movements: Chest flies are another great way to target the pectorals. Though not as effective as the pressing movements for adding overall strength and muscle mass, flies are still a great way to isolate and tone the pectorals.
And like the pressing movements, there's plenty of different ways to employ the chest fly exercises, here are some examples..
- Flat Dumbbell Flies
- Incline Dumbbell Flies
- Cable Crossovers
- Low Pulley Cable Flies
- Duel Exercise Ball Flies
..And of course, there's a lot more..
