There are quite a few alternatives to eBay, and almost all of them offer much cheaper fees, besides being far more seller friendly and easy to use for both sellers and buyers.

Best of all many of them are free.

Here is a summary of eBay alternative sites that will allow you to make a comparison with eBay:

eBay:
* Final value fees are 8.75% for items ending at $25 or below. $25 to $1000 final value fees are $2.19 plus 3.5% of any amount over 25 dollars.
* Listing fees start at 15 cents for items priced 99 cents to just under 10 dollars and go all the way up to four dollars for items starting at five hundred dollars or more.
* For items worth more than one thousand dollars the final value fees are thirty six dollars 31 cents plus 1.50% of any amount over over one thousand dollars.

Free Sites:

AdFlyer: No listing fees. No final value fees.

Altec Trader: No listing fees. No final value fees.

blujay: No listing fees. No final value fees.

Craigslist: No listing fees. No final value fees.

Google Base: No listing fees. No final value fees.

Hoobly: No listing fees. No final value fees.

Xoobie: No listing fees at present. No final value fees at present.

Sites with cheap listing fees:

Amazon: Listing fees of 10 US cents on all items. Final value fees are 5% up to 25 dollars US, One dollar 25 cents plus 2.5% over 25 to 1000 dollars. Items that sell for more than 1000 US dollars attract a final fee of 25 dollars 63 cents plus 1.25%.

Audiogon: A four US dollar listing fee. The final value fee is 1%.

Oltiby: No listing fees. Final value fees are 2.75%-5.25%.

Overstock: Listing fees start at 10 cents and go up to three dollars 15 cents for items 500 dollars and over. Final value fees are 75 cents plus 2% of the selling price.

SellMyStuff: Listing fees are free after 15 dollar flat fee for 30 days. No final value fees after flat 15 dollar fee for 30 days.

Specialist Auctions: No listing fees. Final value fees are a flat 3%.

TradeMe: No listing fees. Final value fees start at 6.9% and go up to 71 dollars 10 cents plus 1.9% on items over 1500 dollars with a maximum final value fee of 149 dollars.
