Sharks are often the most misunderstood in the animal kingdom. In fact, they are cool, docile creatures under the sea that would retreat first when threatened rather than attack. However, precaution is still needed. We all know what they can do when they are agitated and pushed to their limits. Because shark diving is one unforgettable experience you can ever have, it is best that you practice safety before diving in with the sharks - so you would still be in human form to go and tell your friends you went swimming with these magnificent sea animals.
Here are some of the best five shark diving tips for safety.
Choose to swim with a trained, experienced, and well qualified crew.
You can expect the appropriate equipment and facilities for shark diving with these professionals. Check the credibility and shark dive experience of the service provider you are getting.
Learn about the diving environment
Understand the specie behavior you can expect from the types of sharks that you are about to encounter. Know fully the logistics and contingency plans like directions and hand signals with your diving team, or diving partner.
Behave well with them
Do not agitate them by chasing, cornering, grabbing, hurting the shark in any way. Learn to be a well-mannered guest while you are in the Shark territory. Let them approach you in their own terms. As mentioned earlier, they are more likely to retreat than attack. But the best precautions should be observed - so behave!
Do not feed or go baiting
There is no question whether it is safe to feed or lead baits for sharks. This is simply a no-no! Feeding or any initiative to bring food to them will change shark behavior. They will most likely go competitive towards the food you are giving. This will endanger you once you set the sharks on a feeding-competition mode.
It is encouraged that careful study and observance of the tips given above be done before you go shark diving. There is nothing more rewarding than to see for yourself first hand the underwater magnificence of the shark specie - but better be safe than sorry.
