In North America it can be termed as a traveling abroad or a pleasure trip away from the house. It can be also described as a day on which schools, colleges are closed.

In English speaking North America a vacation is referred to as a day kept aside by a nation for a celebration. In most of the countries employers are given certain amount of days off for a vacation in Canada the legal vacation time is for two weeks and in most of the European countries this time increases significantly. In United Kingdom vacation is termed as a long summer break taken by the law courts. Easily we can describe it as a pleasure trip away from the home, for example: a vacation trip to the beach that lasts for several days. Most often in English speaking world, the term holiday is used.

In United States vacation trip is taken during the national holidays by taking the extra leave, as there are few vacations are offered in America as compared to other European countries. With the coordination of United Nations various secular vacations are observed internationally. Some people go on vacations to celebrate it as a funny day.
