Snowboarding has come a long way from its inception nearly forty years ago by pioneers like Jake Burton. What started out as a fringe group of misfits on the ski slopes has become an enormous winter sports empire, now producing over 50% of all winter sports activity. Whether you are an experienced snowboarder or just starting out, you know that snowboarding is an intensely gratifying way to get out on a beautiful mountain top while enjoying the rush of one of the most exciting winter sports.

One of the thrills of snowboarding is the diversity that the sport allows. You can drift down the slopes slowly while enjoying the quiet hiss of the board across the powder below, or race to the bottom, catching air off of every tiny bump in the terrain. You can stick to back country or spend your time in the park perfecting new tricks. There are limitless options (well almost limitless, you still need to stay away from the roped-off areas) when you are out enjoying the day on your snowboard.

If you've spent any time at all with the sport, then you'll know what demands it makes on your body. You will quickly realize that this is a sport that requires large stores of energy and a fair amount of muscle strength if you want to be any good at it. Without the necessary strength, you'll soon find yourself wimping out a few runs into the day and retreating to the lodge to nurse your wounds.

One of the best ways to increase your energy levels and your muscle strength on the slopes is to increase your intake of protein. By increasing protein, your body will be given a source of fuel that is almost never turned into fat, it provides the essential amino acids to create lean muscle that is crucial for snowboarders. Because this fuel source is available, your body will also turn to burning stores of fat, helping you to lose weight while increasing muscle strength. Then you'll have the added bonus of looking good in your stylin' snowboard gear while pulling off the skill to back up the style.

There are lots of foods such as meat and eggs with a good supply of protein, but the best way to ensure your body has the necessary fuel is to choose a good protein supplement. Whey Protein is well known as one of the absolute best sources of protein that you can find anywhere. It is a completely natural product that comes from dairy so it is particularly easy to digest and quickly fuels your muscles for optimal results. Whey protein is such a pure source of protein because it is made up of over 90% protein. Because it is low in fat, it is superior to meat and eggs because it provides you maximum benefit with far fewer calories.

By taking whey protein supplements, you allow your body to build more lean muscle and burn more calories, which will give you the strength and endurance to get the most out of every minute on your snowboard.
