Your Shoes May Be Causing Ball Of Foot Pain

A stylish pair of stiletto heels are just about the most prized possessions for a woman's closet. As a result, high-heeled shoes have become an exclusive statement of fashion. Unfortunately, these styles of shoes can cause an array of problems to our beloved feet. Common ones are metatarsalgia, hammertoes, bunions, and foot arch support problems. Not surprisingly, the University of Maryland found that tight shoes, particularly those with a heightened heel, can both irritate and be the cause of foot and toe problems. Men can also experience the perils of tight shoes. Certain types of shoes, such as rigid work boots or dress shoes can also cause foot pain. For both men and women, foot pain can be brought on by exercise and sports activities.

How Ball Of Foot Pain Can Come From Your Shoes

High heels cause the foot to be pushed forward and onto the ball of the foot. This causes too much force on the ball of the foot instead of normally spreading weight over the whole foot. Poor cushioning can also add to major foot pain. Special tissues located in the bottom of the foot help to shield it from injury. However, the foot is unable to make this happen on its own. Shoe cushioning and arch support help to add to the foot's natural ability to guard against injury during activities like running and jumping. Be sure to wear proper shoes with adequate cushioning and foot arch support.

Tight shoes are another major source of foot pain in both men and women. In females, shoes with toe areas that are narrow or that squeeze the toes together, are the cuplrits for most foot pain experienced. Heels also cause problems , since they fail to give feet enough support in the arch of the foot which can be a key reason for foot pain. For men, stiff working shoes can bring on definite sets of problems. Arch support and cushioning are missing in these styles of shoes, so they are not good choices for daily-use footwear. The Mayo Clinic cites that poor choice in shoes can cause flat feet to develop, especially during athletic activities or when lifting heavy objects.

Why You May Need Orthotics if You Experience Ball Of Foot Pain

An effective remedy to relieving ball of foot pain and poor foot arch support is through the use of foot orthotics. These inserts are specially-made for certain foot weaknesses and cannot be bought in your local store. They can fit into any type of shoe, including high heels. They provide crucial alignment and cushion for feet so they can give you their best and stay free of discomfort.
