Motivation is a very important element for people who want to lose weight. It isn't easy to make the choices needed to lose weight. People will have to give up favorite foods, that aren't healthy for them to eat. People also will have a hard time committing large portions of their time to working out. Nothing is more destructive to the motivation to work out and eat right, than to not see the results of your sacrifice.

One of the most deceptive items to measure the progress of your weight loss program is the scale. The scale will tell you what you want to know, and that is how much you weigh. Yet, often people will place too much importance, too soon on their actual weight. This is very frustrating for people who are trying to lose weight, because many times when you are starting a weight loss program you will gain weight. This gaiMotivation is a very important element for people who want to lose weight. It isn't easy to make the choices needed to lose weight. n on the scale will cause people to either drastically change their nutritional plan or to abandon the attempt all together.

The problem is that the weight gain at the beginning of a new training program is often a very good thing. It usually means that you are creating muscle. Lean muscle will give you a better appearance, and it will also burn more calories and thus more weight over the long run. Studies have shown that people that weight train and build up lean muscle actually lose more than six times the amount of calories than people who just try to burn calories using cardio. The people with lean muscles will actually burn more calories letting their muscles recover the next day after a workout, than a person who is doing forty minutes of cardio exercise alone.

The best way to help your body to build lean muscle is to manage your intake of protein in your diet. Protein is the basic building block that your body uses to build lean muscle. A good way to increase the amount of protein you have in your system, without increasing the amounts of fats and carbohydrates, is to use a whey protein supplement. Whey protein supplements are an excellent and easy way to increase the protein in your diet. Whey protein isolates contain 90% pure protein without the fats and carbohydrate levels that soy and whey concentrates contain. Whey protein is dairy based so it is easy to digest, and is metabolized better by your body than soy based products. The increase in protein will ensure your body can construct the lean muscle that will help you to lose weight.

Even with the benefits of lean muscle, it is still hard to not lose motivation when you see your weight go up on the scale. Nobody likes to weigh more, who is trying to lose weight. What is a solution to this problem? Don't allow yourself to get on the scale. Give yourself a moratorium on weighing yourself. Try to do it for at least two to three weeks. For judging how your new exercise program is working, use how your clothes are fitting, or just how you look in the mirror. Those are both better guides at the beginning of a diet than any number on a scale.
