It's obvious that of all our body parts, our feet get the most use. We use them to get around, and they take the force of every activity doled out to them. Every day, they consistently provide us with steady performance. That is, unless a foot condition develops. This can include heelspurs, blisters, dry cracking skin and many other ailments. Feet need to be pampered more than any part of the body. Take good care of feet and they will give many trouble-free years. Here are some ways that feet can be pampered this season, even in the drying weather.

How a Pedicure and Massage Can Make Foot Discomfort Disappear

The first way to spoil feet is to get a pedicure. This is a wonderful way to remove excess dead skin from the feet and toes as well as to replenish the foot's moisture balance. Rehydration is one benefit of a pedicure because feet are soaked in water and then lotion is applied for maximum moisture retention. If the salon offers the indulgence of a warm foot bath with a special essential oil, that is an even better way to replenish moisture. According to the American Podiatric Medical Association, pedicure instruments that have been sterilized should always be used by the salon to prevent the spread of skin fungus from one customer to another. Pedicures not only enhance the appearance of the feet, but they give them with optimal circulation through massage. Provided that the pedicure comes with a calf and foot massage, the foot is relieved of tensions and oxygen-rich blood can be distributed around the feet to relieve muscle stress! Even heelspurs and flat feet don't pester feet as much after indulged in this way!

How Flat Footwear Hurts Feet

Warmer weather is here and thongs are worn more often at this time of the year. This can cause some real issues for people who suffer from heelspurs due to flat feet. As reported by podiatrists, not having any firmness in the arch can cause this region of the foot to become elongated and painful. Though both of these foot conditions can be treated with special orthotic inserts, flat sandals simply cannot provide proper arch support...until now. Special flat sandals for warm weather have been developed and some of them are quite fashionable. Look for flip-flops like these because they come with orthotic inserts for firm arch support. You can take them to the beach, go walking at the mall or even wear them to an amusement park; these sandals will give you all-day comfort. Indulge feet with flip-flops like these rather than wearing common, flat flip-flops.

The Evils of Hot Weather, Under-Hydration, and Inactivity

The third way to spoil your feet during summer is to increase water consumption, keep them moving, and keep them elevated for twenty minutes each day. Summertime can cause swelling in the feet and ankles which can worsen problems such as heel spurs and flat feet. These contributing ailments can cause feet to ache or feel tender by the end of the day. One suggested physical fitness plan that really helps cool the body as well as raise circulation is going for a swim. If excercise, excellent fluid intake, and 20 minutes of foot elevation are maintained throughout the summer, feet will hurt less and swelling will be kept to a minimum.

This summer, try a foot massage and pedicure, supportive shoes, and elevating the feet. You'll immediately moisturize skin, lessen inflammation, and relieve aches. Don't deprive your feet of the relaxing pampering they deserve!
