Ginseng is a miracle drug and is often considered a panacea. It adapts itself to the requirements of the body and restores the balance of the body curing many illnesses. What is it about ginseng that makes it so potent and effective? Korean ginseng contains several compounds that give it miraculous healing powers.

Saponins:

Saponins are an important compound in ginseng that gives it the medicinal effects. Korean ginseng contains the most potent of saponins in it than any other variety of ginseng. Saponins are also called ginsenosides and there are about thirty different kinds of them. They are also subdivided further according to their structural characteristics. Different saponins have different medicinal effects.

White ginseng has called saponins called malonyl ginsenosides, and red ginseng contains saponins such as G-Rs 1 and H-R4 among others.

Polyphenol:

Polyphenol compounds are those that restrain hyper-oxidation of lipids and also slow down the aging process. There are many polyphenol compounds present in Korean ginseng that makes it a herb of great medicinal value.

Polyacetelene:

Korean ginseng contains several polyacetelene compounds. Some of the ten different types of compounds that are present in Korean ginseng help fight cancer. They suppress the growth of cells that have turned cancerous and also exhibit anti-oxidising behavior. Studies have been conducted to analyze the amounts of polyactelene compounds that Korean ginseng contains as against other varieties. They reveal that Korean ginsng has approximately 30 to 60% more polyacetelene compounds than any other ginseng varieties.

Polysaccharides:

Polysaccharides suppress lipolysis by curbing the activity of lipolysis inducing toxins in the body. The polysaccharides identified in Korean ginseng have been found to be far superior than any other variety.

Other Ingredients:

Other than the compounds mentioned above, ginseng also has high amounts of protein, fiber, sugar and amino acids. Total amino acids like proline, glutamic acid and threonine are present in large quantities in Korean ginseng.
