Sometimes you may face boot sector corruption issues on a Windows NT-based operating system computer, if you've installed the operating system on a FAT file system formatted partition. In such situations, the computer might not start properly, when you try it next time. This behavior might make your hard drive inaccessible and result into serious file loss situations. In such cases, you are required to carry out File Recovery to salvage lost, missing and inaccessible files from your damaged hard drive.

In a practical scenario, after you indicate that you want to shutdown your Windows computer, the operating system start closing the network connections and applications and carry out file system shut down functions. When the last process runs, you would encounter the following warning message:

"Please wait while the system writes unsaved data to the disk"

As soon as status of the system is returned that every function has completed successfully, Microsoft Windows NT shows you the blow error message:

"It is now safe to turn off your computer."

In such cases, if you immediately turn off your Windows computer, hard disk corruption might take place that could prevent the system from restarting. It renders all Windows hard drive partitions inaccessible and you need to find out the cause of this behavior and achieve File Recovery by sorting it out.

Root of the issue

This situation occurs when the operating system observes that the file system shutdown processes have completed successfully, but there are some asynchronous threads are running, which hasn't yet completed the Input/Output on the hard drive partition. This procedure is employed by marking the partition clean by updating the information on drive. When the computer is powered off during last write, disk corruption might occur.

Resolution

In order to prevent disk corruption from being occurred, you should wait for almost 10 seconds after last message is appeared or you observe that the disk access light and wait for last write to complete prior to turn off your system.

In order to recover lost files, you need to opt for File Recovery Software. These applications are specifically designed to methodically scan the affected hard drive using efficient scanning algorithms and retrieve all the lost files. The File Recovery Software comes equipped with interactive user interface and thus do not demand sound and prior technical skills.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is an advanced tool to effectively recover all sorts of lost files. This software is designed to recover files from FAT32, VFAT, NTFS and NTFS5 file system partitions. It is compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 RC1, Vista, 2003, XP and 2000.
