You need to understand the cholesterol food chart to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It is more required for the people who have complaints about their cardiovascular health. The chart is about a diet plan so that the amount of cholesterol present in the food is limited to suit the particular individual.

What is cholesterol and what does it do in our body? You need to know the simple facts about cholesterol, which is an essential component of our body system. The excessive presence of the LDL cholesterol or bad one can cause serious harm to our system. The HDL cholesterol or good cholesterol must have a minimum level of presence in our system for good health.

Liver produces the cholesterol in our body which is present in the cells. Cholesterol plays an important role in the production of vitamin D as well as facilitates the transportation of vitamin A and E in the system. Many of the foods that we intake everyday have some element of cholesterol in them, which are commonly known as fats.

The high cholesterol containing foods are animal food products with high quantity of saturated fats, the dairy items, eggs and the seafood. These products raise the LDL cholesterol levels in the system, which is harmful for people with heart complaints and diabetes. It is advisable to limit the intake of these products and the diet chart is prepared accordingly. Palm oil and coconut are also high cholesterol products and they should also be limited.

Some food preparations are unsafe as they raise the level of LDL cholesterol and at the same time decrease the level of HDL cholesterol. This is caused by the quality of the cooking medium, which is usually a vegetable oil. This process generates trans fats otherwise hydrogenated fats. Food items like the baked preparations, snacks, some processed food and the fried food items are common examples.

It must be discontinued to consume the trans fats known as saturated fats. It is better to use monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fats as medium of cooking. Fish of oily nature is a good example of polyunsaturated fat for the benefit of cardiac patients. It helps to follow a food plan with fiber elements in the food like porridge, fruits and vegetables, which are friendly elements to maintain secured cholesterol levels of the body.

High cholesterol level may prove to be more risky for the cardiac patients and particularly in the old age due to the reasons of poor metabolism functions. Only the food variety with reduced amount of cholesterol should be included in the food plan and every individual should draw a personal cholesterol food chart for his specific use for living well.
