Having devoted himself for Philadelphia Eagles for eight years, he won four National League East Champions; 2004 season National League champion; and from 2001 to 2003 season, he also has been selected to attend the annual All-Star Game-- Pro Bowl for three consecutive years. He is 2.01meters tall and 110 kilograms weight. He is the 38-year-old Chad Lewis who also was once the NFL's Best Tight end. Moreover, it is this pure American who has an indissoluble bond with China; therefore, he accepted the invitation of the NFL China Office to become an NFL China promotion ambassador.

Chad Lewis entered the Brigham Young University in 1990, majored in Chinese and mass Communication. Have not yet finished the first grade, he suspended his curriculum in the university and packed up to go to China Taiwan. He thought that to learn Chinese in the other side of the Pacific Ocean will obviously make faster progress than in the United States. "Chinese is too difficult to learn, I miss my family," he said, "I hate this place." The first time to Taiwan, Lewis could not adapt himself at all, each lonely night, he could only cry to look at photos of his family and girlfriend, hoping to leave this "ghost place" as soon as possible. Later, his fellow Americans kept on encouraging him, "Hey, don't cry, you are not a sissy, do not look at those old photos, you have to become strong to help others. Don't think about yourself only."

Chad Lewis accepted his compatriot's advice, the two years in Taiwan has made him a mature man who can manage his own life, and he arranged his study schedule very tight. Sometimes when he came out to see the neighbor's lawn, he would think of the happy hours that he playing rugby in America. Back to the U.S. his gratitude towards his mother has been unprecedented, "In the past I always thought that whatever my mom did for me she deserved it. As soon as I walked into my home I would say, 'Hey, I'm hungry', but after coming back from Taiwan, things are different, no longer the same as before." After the return to campus, Chad Lewis re-embraced rugby. "I love American football." When he was 22-year-old he won scholarship with his outstanding performance in university. In 25 years old, he became a member of the NFL.

As a Brigham Young University's graduate, Chad Lewis has obtained both bachelor's degree in Chinese and mass communication. Lewis signed contract as a free player with Philadelphia Eagles in 1997.He not only showed people his catching ability and positioning talent, but also provided a solid cover with his strong body for the offensive side, and thus made him a model who carried out dual duties in this position. After two and a half seasons, Chad Lewis joined the St. Louis Rams; the most glorious moment of his NFL career was to follow the Rams won the 34th Super Bowl in 2000.

However, after one season in the Rams , Chad Lewis re-signed contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. In 2005, Lewis caught two passes from McNabb and has thus scored through two touchdown in the League final, and thus help the Eagles beat the Atlanta Falcons to storm into the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, it was also in this game that he inadvertently hurt which resulted in his absent in the 39th Super Bowl. Ultimately, New England Patriots beat the Philadelphia Eagles 24 to 21 and become the winner, defending the great cause of success. From 2001 to 2003, Chad Lewis has been selected in NFL All-Star Game (Pro Bowls) for three consecutive years.

Injuries have finally force him away from the stadium. In 2006, Chad Lewis who retired for the sake of injuries opened a steel plant which has soon been acquired by another company. He earned a considerable amount of "enough" money. "It is the highlights of my career to have the opportunity to participate in China's cause." Chad Lewis said, "I feel very proud to be fortunate to be able to come to China to promote American football, to convey my favorite sports' knowledge. As a matter of fact, it is easy for people to communicate with each other through sports. As for me, to bring people together through the American football is a kind of fun."

Chad Lewis is willing to share with the Chinese students the American football spirit, that is, teamwork and never give up fighting. Only when all of the 11 players in the field have a fine division of labor, and then perform themselves roles well, can they work closely together in order to ensure tactical success. He believes that these obvious features of the American football can be applied to any team in any field. What is remarkable is that in the 80 years history of NFL, regardless of cold weather which has been at minus 44 degrees Celsius, or heavy rain or fog shrouded, there has never been a regular season and playoffs delayed or canceled due to bad weather.
