Search engine optimisation (SEO) is one of the most important web design factors for online businesses who hope to corner the market without relying heavily on paid advertising. The rules of search engine optimisation are changed regularly to meet the demands of consumers for fresh content. While it was once easy to please the robots that rank pages by enticing them with keywords, now writers must take it a step further. Not only must the keywords entice the robot the web page must also be link friendly. It is best to keep these tips for SEO in mind while working on your website design as it will be time consuming to make the necessary changes later.

Web Design: The Importance of Keywords in Search Engine Optimisation

For SEO to work well written keyword rich content is extremely important. This includes a keyword rich and seductive title and meta tags. For instance, a blog titled Uh? is not very enticing and leaves much to the human imagination and much more to the robots. If you change that to Uh? Strategies for Overcoming Writers Block both man and robot can relate. The meta tag is one or two sentences that describe the content on the web page and should contain the same keywords as the title and content. Keywords should also appear in all heading and subheadings. Writing your content with these ideas in mind will raise your page ranking.
In years past search engines relied on this primarily, however, people realized they could entice people to buy porn when they searched for corn by simply re-optimising there pages. This is when link popularity started being utilized as a means of ranking web pages.

SEO and the Use of Links to Raise Page Rank

The new era of Search engine optimisation includes popular links. The inclusion of popular links in web design will ensure higher ranking pages. Popular links are incoming links to your site from other sites that are similar. Popular links tell the robot that the web page not only offers information, but also that the information is useful to others. The more other people link to content on your site the higher your page rank rises. As you can see, content is important, if the content is poorly written and not keyword optimized people will either A. not be able to find it or B. not link to the content. When the porn industry and the other online scams realized that they needed other people to find there topics enticing they got into the shady business of link exchanges.

Avoiding Search Engine Optimisation Scams

As with everything else in life, precautions to safeguard your work from SEO scams are important as predators do exist. These predators will offer you popular links or top ten page ranking however they may actually lower your scores with search engines or get your website banned. To keep your website robot friendly avoid 'cloaking' by displaying the same content to your users as you show to robots. Do not participate in link schemes where people offer to link there pages to your pages for reciprocal links. While you may feel that you need to do something in order to raise your ranking, it is best to do this through user interaction, and being user friendly.
