Lots of homeowners are looking for ways to cut down on their household expenses while still maintaining the same standard of living. A sensible way to achieve this is by reducing your gas and electricity bills, not by freezing in the winter because you haven't turned on the central heating or boiling in the summer because you won't use the air conditioning. No, you can make a small layout and get your own solar panel, thus using the sun's energy, which you don't have to pay for.

Very few people, even in this day and age, consider solar power to be feasible for "ordinary" folk. Most seem to imagine that you have to belong to Greenpeace or some other such organisation in order to use solar energy, but that just isn't true. It is true that you can contribute to the reduction in emissions by changing to solar energy, but more to the point, you can save yourself money. Better still, you don't have to pay an exorbitant price because you can build your own solar panel with items that you can by from your local do it yourself shop and some easy to follow instructions

Don't panic because you haven't got any technical qualifications because they really aren't necessary. You don't have to be an engineering genius or a rocket scientist.

If you build your own solar panel, you'll soon see benefits, the most immediately obvious of which will be the reduction in your utility bills. In the USA, you will also be entitled to a tax allowance because you use solar energy and that will start as soon as your solar panels are installed.

The long term benefit is that your house will become more valuable because people who are more switched on to the potential savings to be made with solar power are quite likely to pay a premium for a house which has already got solar panels up and running.
