In a refreshing display of honesty and expertise, Beachbody's new workout entitled RevAbs reveals that getting a killer core comes down to diet, exercise and melting the fat off your body. No miracle cure here, no cheap fix, but just medical knowledge, precision workouts and effective nutrition. Those seeking imaginary shortcuts will probably not be satisfied with this intense 90 day workout, but for everybody else who's willing to sweat and work and knows honest, healthy results take a little effort, RevAbs is looking like the way to achieve killer abs.

So who is this new trainer, Brett Hoebel, and what does he know about abs? Why should we listen to this guy, when hundreds of other people are yelling and jumping up and down claiming they've got all the secret answers? He's a trainer with a background in biomedical studies from the prestigious Claremont-McKenna college, and has been practicing martial arts since he was young. He's a Brazilian who adept at Afro-Brazilian capoeira, and has trained boxers at local gyms in NYC. But more than that, he's a fitness enthusiast who's RevAbs classes have been voted the best fitness classes of NYC several times by New York Magazine.

What's his routine all about? Simple. He knows how the body works, so there's no get ripped quick fix here. He's got a combination of approaches that when combined result in the perfect stomach. First, he approaches the core from a number of different angles. It's not enough to do crunches (though he uses them), or just target the front six pack. He works the core from six different angles, including the back, such that the whole network of core muscles get ripped through a series of technical, efficient workouts.

Second, he knows that to get visible abs you need to work on the whole body. The truth of the matter is that unless your body fat percentage is under 10%, your abs simply won't show up. A layer of fat will hide even the strongest of abs, so just doing crunches and core exercises is enough. That's why Brett's included a number of full body workouts, ranging from resistance training to intense cardio, all designed to help tone your body (so those abs don't look out of place) and melt the fat off your muscles. This is key, people. If you don't lower your total body fat percentage, your abs simply won't show. Brett knows this, isn't afraid to tackle it head on, and incorporates it into his workout.

Finally, nutrition is key. You can work out in every way, but unless you're feeding your body and providing the correct nutrients, you might as well not body. That's why RevAbs comes with a Nutrition Guide, along with a list of Do's and Don'ts for you to follow and get right. Break your muscle fibers down with exercise, melt the fat off with training, and then strengthen and recover with the correct diet.

It's a full package for a full body transformation, albeit one that focuses on your core. If you're looking for something legitimate, that's based on sound anatomical and biological principles and that will work if you put in the effort, than RevAbs by Brett Hoebel is the way to go. If you're looking for a miracle cure, a magic little machine that will do the impossible in three days and turn you into a god, well, I guess all we can say is 'Good luck'. RevAbs will be waiting for you when you change your mind!
