Have you ever thought about the purpose of windscreens fitted on your car? These days, even motorcycle manufacturers are incorporating the same in their latest models. These screens are designed keeping two factors in mind - (a) to streamline the high-speed movement of the vehicle, and (b) to protect the occupants from the gush of air (that would hit them straight in their faces in the absence of a windscreen). A chip or a crack on the surface of the screen must not be ignored. It can cost you, your life or the lives of your loved ones.

In the event of damage to the windscreen, it must be repaired or replaced. Before you take the vehicle to the respective dealer (to repair the damaged surface), you must be aware of certain intricacies that are in store for you. If you paint a picture that you are a novice in the niche, the dealer will take you for a fun ride. Additional charges will be included into the repair bills. Hence, you must have a good understanding of how to proceed with the paradigm. I will list certain parameters that will aid in clearing the confusion.

You must be concerned about the approximate costs to repair the windscreen. For that, you must be aware of three factors that primarily decide the associated costs. You will have to take into account (a) the nature and extent of the damage to the windscreen (b) the type of screen used in the vehicle (c) the relationship between your vehicle insurance and these damages (whether the insurance company will cover such damages or not). The second aspect that must be considered is the workforce and the agency that will repair or replace the screen!

If the windscreen is damaged lightly, the dealer will be able to repair the screen with the aid of windscreen repair kits. These kits are available on a commercial basis too (although no one will ever invest in them). If the damage to the windscreen is extensive, it will have to be replaced (mere repairing will not work out to be feasible in such situations). The cost of replacing the windscreen can make a significant dent in your purse, unless your vehicle insurance policy covers such aspects. You should also replace the windscreen with genuine OEM vehicle-manufacturer recommended products only.

Although some dealers might present you with low-priced windscreens (that will suffice the purpose), it is better to insist on genuine products. The manufacturer recommended products will be sturdy and will last a couple of years more than the cheaper priced products. The quality of workmanship deployed to affix the windscreen must also be taken into account. The professed will be able to complete the installation within hours. Online booking facilities are present now and it can be availed by interested users to avoid unnecessary delays. To protect the windscreen from further damage, please invest in screen savers. These are available for nominal prices and can be purchased via the internet.
