There are people who argue that directory submission is an outdated concept and it has little significance now. True, traffic on internet does not depend on Directory submissions to get popularity. At the same time one has to appreciate the reality. Everyone always prefers to browse the link. This preference has to be accepted by the web designers. In fact, it is this link which increases the SEO. In other words, the Directory submissions add flavor to the content.
Directory submissions play a vital role in promoting new ventures. Here, the web gets its global recognition on the internet. For this purpose link has to be provided. Without link, the web actually works in isolation. This situation of isolation is not conducive for an effective SEO. However effective and balanced the key words are in their density, etc., without links the SEO cannot improve.
Helps to identify:
No one can memorize all the websites he wants to browse or which he had browsed sometime back. So at some point of time or other, he has to look at the directory to search for a topic or service provider, etc. This is the blatant truth. The user looks at the directory because the directory will provide the list of sites so that the person can choose the appropriate one. It is more or less a ready reckoner. So the directory plays a 'direct role' in increasing the SEO. Another most important aspect is that the directories are managed by human editor. They are categorized appropriately by him depending on his convenience, familiarity with the web, etc. This form of directory has one great advantage and that is the user gets the directory from the directory editor. This transmission of information from the directory editor to the user is more reliable as the directory is flawless.
There is one more aspect of convenience. The directory submissions are made for the convenience of the user. No time is lost in getting to the required website. In a way, they enable quick search. As a matter of fact, there is no directory which does not have a URL. This URL is provided with an intention of providing space for the user. Experienced SEOs do recognize this advantage of Directory submissions. This method, although old patterned, is certainly not outdated and it does not hinder the SEO in any manner. As said earlier, it actually increases the SEO.
