The Lake District is best known for its lakes but there is also a phenomenal amount of walking that can be enjoyed by all abilities. It is easy to find something suitable for all abilities, ranging from a gentle ramble, a mountain walk or an exhilarating high-level traverse.

Although the area is relatively small, Cumbria is home to England's only five peaks over 900 metres high. Scarfell Pike is the highest mountain in England and is within the Lake District National Park. The area is also famous for its mountaineering opportunities as it is the centre of English rock climbing and the country's most popular upland walking area. It is also possible to escape the stresses and strains of everyday life and discover truly wild and secluded landscapes that are rarely visited by walkers. There are lots of places for the more experienced walker to enjoy, from isolated tarns, windswept summits, rushing streams, lofty ridges and sheer crags.

The views of the lakes and mountains can be enjoyed from the Lindeth Fell Coutry House Hotel. Lindeth Fell Country House Hotel is only a mile from bustling Bowness on Windermere, up on the hills overlooking Lake Windermere and the Coniston Fells. There are many Bowness Hotels but the nice thing about Lindeth Fell is that it is a homely yet professional 14 bedroom hotel where guests can enjoy the views across Lake Windermere to the Coniston Mountain Range, the highest point being The Old Man of Coniston ~ 2635 feet. The hotel setting is a magical one of tranquility, close to the towns of Bowness and Windermere, with amazing views over the Thomas Mawson designed seven acres of gardens down to Lake Windermere itself.

Lindeth Fell is one of the most spectacular hotels in Windermere and was built in 1909 primarily as a private residence. It was later converted by the current owners, the Kennedy Family in the late 1970s and has been open to guests ever since. Of course the hotel has changed radically over those years to meet the needs to customers with high expectations and the family and their dedicated team attempt to achieve this every day.

There are many Windermere Hotels, however as well as the Good Hotel Guide award, Lindeth Fell Country House Hotel has many accolades including a three star Gold Award from VisitBritain and 10/10 for service from the Sunday Times inspector. It was also awarded English Country Hotel of the Year 2009 by the Good Hotel Guide, Lindeth Fell Country House Hotel is only a mile from bustling Bowness on Windermere, up on the hills overlooking Lake Windermere and the Coniston Fells.
