We cook everything from cookies, cakes, and biscuits in them, but have you ever really thought about your oven? Ovens come in all different shapes, sizes, with all kinds of features, but have you ever thought about how many different types of ovens there are? When you sit down and think about it there are a lot of different types of ovens.

The most common is the conventional oven. You find what you want to bake, set your temperature, and just watch the clock. This is the most commonly used type of oven used in the United States. They have been around for a long time and just about any personal resident you walk in has one.

Now another type of conventional oven is called a range. The only difference is that a range has burners on top to cook with. The regular conventional oven is just the oven. There are some that get these two confused but this is the only difference.

Another type is the convection oven. This is a different type of oven that uses heated air though the use of fans, to cook your food. This one will cost you a little more than conventional because it is said to be more efficient and cooks food better. Although most homes carry convention oven there are still a lot of people that prefer the convectional oven.

Now when choosing between these two ovens you will have the choice of either using gas or electricity. This will be entirely up to personal preference. Some say gas cooks better and others say they would not be without their electric stove. You can also compare the cost of gas and electricity to find which is the most cost effective way to go. But all in all that will be your own personal choice.

For those that live in small apartments of college dorms there is the toaster oven. The toaster oven is just a small electric oven that does not take up much room but is able to cooks small foods like pizza, hot pockets, and maybe even a baked potato. They are very convenient and portable but you will not be cooking thanksgiving dinner with one.

Also for those of you that do not have the room for a regular sized oven there is always the trusty microwave oven. These ovens have been very popular ever since they have hit the market. You just put your food in, choose your time, and push start. Now you can use them not only to heat food up but you can defrost food, cook uncooked food, and even bake a potato. You can also find just about any type of microwaveable meal just by visiting you local grocery store.

These are just a few of the many types of ovens out there. They can come in brick, metal, ceramic, they can be big, small or tall. You can search the Internet and find thousands of pages on oven. The most important when choosing one is how that food is going to taste coming out. So all you need to do is get your information together, choose your oven style, and cook some food.
