Making your way to college can be very hard especially if you don't belong to a well-off family. Applying for student loans may not be the best solution since you're going to pay for the loans sooner or later and it usually comes with interest. One way to fund your education is through government grants aimed at debt relief.

You might find this hard to believe, but it's true. Once you've found the right program, you can already benefit from the government grant. It would be impossible to get the grant directly from the federal government, especially when you're jutting a student.

The fastest way to get hold of the grant money is to inquire at professional associations, educational institutions, private organizations, and the local/state government. The awarding of the government grants is usually based on your ethnicity, financial need, achievements, religious affiliation, special interests, and association.

The most popular is the Federal Pell Grant. This is offered to post-baccalaureate and undergraduate students. The income of your family will be considered during the grant application since it is primarily based on the 'need' of the student. The amount of the grant will depend on the EFC (expected family contribution) and the education cost.

The FSEOG or Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant is awarded to undergraduates who still want to finish their college education. If you're a recipient of the Federal Pell Grant, you can still take advantage of the FSEOG program so that you can lower your EFC significantly. Like the Pell Grant, the program is also need-based.

The LEAP or Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership is administered by the state so you can inquire about this grant program in the state where you live. This is need-based as well and is offered to post secondary students. You can apply for this grant program now.

These are the different education grants that you can obtain if you're an eligible recipient. Try to inquire more about these programs in local education institutions or agencies in your state. Apply now for the government grants aimed at debt relief and be able to study without worries.
