How to Use the Formatting Tool bar for Microsoft Word 2000
Font formatting
If you wish to change the font or add bold or underline to part or all of a document you mast first select the text you wish to change by highlighting it. If you don't you will simply turn-on the format for any text you type thereafter.
Select Format menu
Select Font
Typeface, style and size of font
This is another way of selecting your font, font style, and font size -
By default the focus will be on font
- Click on the required font
- Or Down Arrow key to required font
- Press Enter
- Click on the required style
- Or Tab to select style
- Down Arrow key to required style
- Press enter
- Click on the require size
- Or Tab to size
- Down arrow key to required size
- Press enter
Font Colour
- Click on colour combo box
- Or Tab to Colour
- Down arrow key and colour pallet will drop-down
- Click on the required colour
- Or Arrow key to select colour
- Press enter
Underlining Style
- Click on underlining combo box
- Or Tab to Underlining
- Down arrow key and line pallet will drop-down
- Click on the underlining style required
- Or Arrow key to select line style
- Press enter
Underline Colour
If you select an underline style you can select a colour for it
- Click on underlining colour combo box
- Or Tab to Underlining colour
- Down arrow key and colour pallet will drop-down
- Click on the selected colour
- Or Arrow key to select colour
- Press enter
Effects
This is a series of check boxes
- Click on them to select
- Or Tab to effects
- Arrow key down to effect required
- Spacebar to check box
- Click on them again to uncheck
- Spacebar again will uncheck box
Character spacing:
This is the second control tab
- Tab to scale usually this are set as Scale 100%
- Or click in combo box
- Arrow and press enter to change
- Tab to Spacing usually set to normal
- Or click in Combo box
- Tab to Position usually set to normal
- Or click in combo box
- Once set to the desired format Press enter
Text Effects
This is the third and final tab control
- Click on the required text effect
- Or Down arrow key and enter
