Poverty is not anymore exclusive to third world countries. This is now happening to many families across the country. The fall of industries and outsourcing of jobs for manufacturing industries to China among others, have created more jobless men.
This leaves the women to help out the family; however, lack of education is the problem. For mothers of such predicament, scholarship for the mother program is the answer.
The government through President Obama has included in its stimulus package more scholarship grants. In which mothers are one of the target recipients of the said program? The scholarship for the mother program entitles mother of up to $10,000 per annum for a college education. This is a whooping amount for an impoverished mother.
The purpose of the program is making mothers qualify for jobs outside of the blue-collar jobs, she is stereotyped with. It meant she goes back to school, get a good education, graduate later, and get a high-paying, non-labor oriented job. At the same time, this could mean confident, educated, and financially independent mothers. The husband may not like this ego wise, but it's good for the family, income wise.
In time, the country will be filled with well-educated mothers. That can help not only her children in their homework, but also in the economy because they are productive. The scholarship for the mother program may sound like wishful thinking, but it's actually good for everyone eventually.
Although the picture seems vague, put this simply, with an educated mother, she doesn't have to resort to low-paying jobs anymore. The financial strength of the family will increase; poverty thereafter becomes a thing of the past. Sound simple but it's really better than having no education as a fall back. Job opportunities are so narrow when a woman has little education to boast.
Mothers can choose to go back to school, get a degree worth of the job market. She is expected to endure it because financial assistance is extended, and because it's a scholarship so no repayment is asked. It's a no-worry study-now, enjoy no-poverty later type of program. It's a sure winner for mothers.
