As you modify a worksheet, you might find it necessary to insert or delete rows and columns. You might want to insert a row for a new product or service or delete a column that has out of date data that is no longer required. It can also be use to make the chart more readable by spacing the data out.
Insert row
Select cell A4.
- Select cells from the insert drop-down menu
- Click entire row.
- Or Down arrow key to entire row and press enter
- A row of empty cells now appears under weekly figures and the rest move down one.
- Repeat this procedure so that you will have two empty rows under weekly figures.
Delete row
- Select cell A4.
- Select the edit drop down menu
- Select delete.
- Select entire row
- Select the OK button or press the enter key.
- This row is deleted and the rest move up one.
Delete column
- Type in 1236 in cell H6
- Point to H and click - the whole column should be highlighted.
- Click on edit drop down menu then delete
- Or Press alt + E for the edit drop-down menu
- Down arrow to delete
- Down arrow to entire column and press the enter key
The column is deleted and the rest close up.
Selecting Fonts and Font Sizes
A font is the name given to the characters you type whether they are letters, numbers, or symbols with a specific design.
Change Font
You change the font design by highlighting the text you want to change - in this case 'Block Trading Company'
- Go to the first white box on the formatting bar and click the down arrow
- A drop down list will appear, scroll down and select the required font
- Or highlight the text you want to change,
- Press F10
- Ctrl + tab to format toolbar
- Arrow key to the required font and then press enter
- Change Font size
- Highlight 'Block Trading Company,**
- Click on the down arrow on the size box, Select 20
- Or highlight the text you want to change
- Press F10,
- Ctrl + tab to format toolbar
- Right arrow key to the font size box,
- Arrow key to required font size and then press enter
** if you haven't done the exercise from a previous article then type it in and carry on
Change the text colour
- Select whole cells or the specific text in a single cell that you want to format.
- To apply the most recently selected colour, click Font Colour on the Formatting toolbar.
- To apply a different colour, click the arrow next to Font Colour,
- Click a colour on the palette.
- Or F10, ctrl + tab to formatting toolbar
- Arrow to the small arrow next to the font colour icon
- Arrow key to the colour required and enter
