Obama has proposed to put mothers through college. Far from his fashion faux pas with mom jeans Obama is now appealing to Mothers in a new way. Scholarships for tuition, books, and gas are now on the white house agenda.

There has always been Federal aid for students through Free Application for Federal Student Aid, but Obama's new target is single mothers. Obama has focused on making higher education more affordable by expanding the Pell Grant and providing new tax credits. The scholarship program consists of a Pell grant which is money for student expenses provided by the U.S government. Unlike student loans that also provide for continuing education, the Pell grant is money for college that does not need to be repaid. These incentives for higher education will be music to the ears of many frustrated moms trying to finish up their degrees.

In the past, having a child meant forfeiting the opportunity of attending college. Scholarships for moms program is a boost for those mothers trying to provide for their family. There is no reason for mothers to feel they are being selfish for going to college while having the responsibility of caring for their bundles of joy. Instead, the scholarship opportunity is a way to provide a better future for their children, stimulating the economy with new skills, and all while meeting personal actualization goals.

Single mothers must take advantage of this great opportunity for higher education. Whether it is a Bachelor's Degree or an online course the time is now to complete the dream. The first step is to apply for aid. Initiative is the only thing needed to provide a better future for ourselves and our children. Obama's change is not going unnoticed by the single mothers across America.
