Many social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin etc. help you a lot in your recruitment process by making your work so simple, easy and by reducing your precious time.

But what should you do?

The answer: it is up to you. If you decide to forbid social media sites as part of your recruitment process, then that message has to be made clear both to line recruiters and managers. A policy review may be required.

 If you are including these kinds of sites for your processes, then you need to take many precautions to get benefits:

  • You have to ensure that your recruiting officers are trained in equal opportunities
  • Keep a paper trail and archive print-outs that you have used when assessing a candidate
  • You have review your policies and make it clear that only HR is allowed to consult online profiles


LinkedIn, the social media site, has the following benefits:

  • Easier to locate talent
  • Can do better reference checking
  • Easier to leverage your network to locate and reach talent
  • More honest data b/c profiles are essentially peer reviewed
  • Relationship context helps build a trusted communication environment

Social Media has lot of benefits for Employers because :

  • It is a best way to advertise your job vacancies here in free of cost
  • Provide the advertisement to number of people where they will send the job vacancies to their number of friends
  • Receive a lot of resume of talented candidates
  • Identify and approach suitable candidates
  • Helps in finding the right candidates in the shortest time to meet your specific

requirements for the employer’s vacancy

  • Check the suitability of candidates

 

  • Brief the candidate about the responsibilities, salary and benefits of the job in your firm


It has a lot of benefits for a candidate also as

  • Can find a right job according to his/her skills, experience, knowledge, expected salary
  • Can post his/ her CV
  • Can ask his/ her queries in ‘Comment box’ before sending CV. Therefore, he/ she can hide his/her personal information
  • Can also discuss about the job position, company etc. here
  • Can appraise his/ her skills, knowledge and experience relative to job requirements
  • Can upgrade his/ her skills according to current market demands
  • Can send this link to his/ her friends those who are searching a perfect job

So, you can use social media sites like (twitter, LinkedIn etc.) for your recruitment process and take advantages of them.
