What are your habits? Have you ever stopped to think about what you do on a daily basis?
Your habits will either make or break your success in whatever it is you want to achieve in life.
For example, let's say you want to lose 20 pounds. What is your exercise habit? Do you have one? What do you eat for breakfast? What do you eat for lunch and dinner? Do you snack? Do you eat dessert? Do you eat after 8:00 pm?Your habits will determine if you will lose 20 pounds or not.
Habits are funny creatures. They change over time based on what you continue to do. That means any good habits you have, you need to feed and any bad habits you have, you need to modify. Makes sense right?
It's not so easy though is it?
So what is a good habit and what is a bad habit? A good habit is one that pushes you towards a goal or is in line with your overall purpose. Do you have an overall purpose? If not, I will discuss that in another blog post, but for now just say you want to be the best person you can be. A bad habit is one that might feel comfortable in the moment, but is not moving you towards your ultimate goals or purpose.
Let's go back to our example of losing 20 lbs. A good habit would be exercising on a consistent basis and getting your heart rate up while you exercise. Another good habit would be eating a wholesome breakfast such as eggs or a protein shake. Steel cut oatmeal is another good breakfast. I put protein powder in mine because having protein in the morning will keep you full and satisfied longer. Drinking a lot of water or another beverage such as Yoli is a good habit because there is no sugar, artificial sweeteners, additives, preservatives, or chemicals and your body will thrive on it. Not eating after 8:00 pm is another good habit.
Right now, take out a sheet of paper and write down three goals that you have for yourself. Make those goals specific and think about how you will feel when you achieve those goals. What will it do for you and your family?
OK, now look at your daily habits that surround each of those goals. We have already looked at a goal to make you healthier and feel better inside and out, but what about another area in your life such as financial. Are you making the kind of money you want to make? What would an extra income stream do for you and your family? What are you doing on a daily basis to reach that financial goal. Anything? Are you investing your money? Are you looking for a job? Are you looking for a home business? Are you babysitting for the neighbor kids? Are you selling stuff you have on E-Bay?
There are many ways to achieve your financial goals. Since this is one of the most common goals I hear, I like to address this one because most people do not know how to achieve their financial goals. It is really very simple if you have a plan of action. I help people every day with this because sometimes it takes another person to shed light on the things and habits that will help you achieve this goal.
My first suggestion is to find a financial broker or get on a financial website and set up an account to start investing a portion of your money each and every month. A good rule of thumb would be 10% of your income. Take this money and if possible, have it taken out of your paycheck or monthly income automatically and deposit it into this new investment account. Now, be sure this investment account is not a bank account where you are not earning any compounding interest because the compounding interest is where you will make the most money.
A great way to supplement your income to be sure you are saving enough for retirement, or your kids' college education, or vacations, or anything else you want to do in your lifetime, is to start a home business. Not only is this a great way to supplement your income (or in many cases far surpass your income), but it has great tax benefits and builds a residual income as well. If you are looking for a home business, and like my style, I would love to work with you. You can contact me on my "Contact Me" page at the top of my blog site and we can talk about it.
Habits will truly determine where you go (or don't go) in relation to your goals and dreams so take a serious look at how you spend your time, and adjust those habits to get back in alignment with those goals and dreams you have. Don't waste one more day doing things that aren't important and won't fulfill that purpose you have. You don't want to regret those bad decisions in the future!
It takes approximately 21 days to change a habit or make a new habit so you need to make a decision, right now, to follow through on your new habits for at least a month. This will give you a good foundation, and you will find that every day your new habits get easier and easier and once the month is over, you will feel unbelievable because you are living your life's purpose. Even if you aren't at your goal weight, or earning your dream income by the end of that month, you are still on the right path and if you don't get off that path, you will acheive success! Aren't you worth it! You sure are! I believe in you and I believe you can do it! Believe in yourself!
To Your Success,
