A fixed blade knife is the most essential tool which every hunting expedition should include. Several manufacturers have made this knife in their own style and their own features. But the fact remains that each one of these knives is very sharp, does not lose its sharpness easily and it is very sturdy being made from a single piece. You can classify these knives based on their usage. You must learn about the different kind of knives available and use them for the specific purpose they have been created for. Folding blade knives are the opposite of these knives and they too have their own advantages. But the fixed blade ones are the ones to consider if you are looking for a sturdy knife.

Facts about the Bowie Knife

The Bowie knife is a fixed blade knife which can transform the very nature of your hunting. It gives a quiet confidence to the hunter. The sharpness of the knife is favorable for cutting through the flesh and soft bones within seconds. And even after being used several times, it appears to be as new as ever. There is no change in its sharpness. The serrations along the edge of the Bowie knife are especially helpful in cutting through flesh and bones. Usually, this knife is used after the animal is caught for skinning and gutting. This knife is known for its sturdiness and resilience and thus helps you to grip the knife strongly while doing your job.

Getting To Know the Buck Hunting Knife

Another example of a fixed blade knife is the Buck hunting knife. They can be very useful on a camping trip. They can cut through meat easily and also serve as tools for cutting wires. You do not need to keep sharpening them at regular intervals as they maintain their sharpness for a very long time. You can just carry them along whenever you get ready to go for your camping. This is certainly a great advantage if you plan a sudden trip. The knife does need frequent sharpening because of the design of its edges.

Customize Your Knife

If you are resourceful enough, you can even make your own fixed blade knife. Instead of buying one from the market, you can fashion the knife according to your likes. This will help you to customize the knife according to your taste. You should preferably use Buck antler for making the knife as it gives strength to it. The handle can be made from Buck antler and then the blade should be attached to make the knife of your choice. If you really have a passion for hunting, then kill the Buck yourself and use the antler to make the knife. This will give you a completely different feeling.

A Very Good Memento

A fixed blade knife is a good thing to be gifted as a memento. You can make one yourself and present it to your friends and family members. Either you can make the knife yourself or else buy one from one of the famous manufacturers. But if you decide to present a knife, you should first find out what kind of knife will make him happy. You can write his name on the knife and further get it engraved with precious stones so that he can keep it as an heirloom. But these knives are always handy and beautiful, no matter how you use them.
