If you’re interested in sales as a career you’ll probably be asking which are the best paying sales careers?

Last year, out of the top 25 best paying jobs in America, 14 were in the medical profession including dentistry. It might therefore make sense to assume that the best paying sales careers will be in medical and dental sales. Pharmaceutical sales are certainly up there as one of the best paid and dental equipment is another lucrative market.

However, payment to sales people can be made in a number of different ways. A sales person can have a fairly low basic salary (or in some cases no basic at all) and a generous rate of commission or a basic salary and a bonus scheme paid annually.

Commission as a percentage of products or services sold is a common payment mechanism for sales people and certainly rewards those who are prepared to work the hardest. Alternatively, a fixed commission may be paid upon achievement of pre-agreed targets.

Probably one of the best paying sales careers is in the financial sector selling bonds, stocks, foreign exchange and the like to large companies and very wealthy individuals but this is a very stressful environment with a limited number of customers and no guarantee of success. The financial climate being what it is at the moment, this could be a risky choice.

No matter what you sell, there’s a fair chance that you’ll need to spend a great deal of your time in meetings, on the phone or travelling to visit potential clients. All of that is tiring and demanding and can ultimately take its toll on your health.

So why not approach this in a different way? You believe that you can be successful in a sales career but why do all that travelling and put in all those hours? Wouldn’t you rather work from home using your computer, doing as many or as few hours as you choose? Wouldn’t you rather be unsupervised with an unlimited earning potential? Well you can have all that and one of the best paying sales careers if you sell on the internet.
