Are you wondering which the top paying sales jobs are? Well here are a few ideas.

Pharmaceutical sales is one of the top paying sales jobs. There will be a very good basic salary and there are huge opportunities for large bonuses. These can be cash, shares in your company or a mixture of both. With a company that's highly quoted on the stock exchange, that could be your pension fund.

However, there's a small fly in the ointment with pharmaceutical sales; most of the job advertisements will ask for a Bachelors degree, preferably in a scientific discipline and quite possibly a minimum of three years experience in a related industry. Nonetheless, if you can get in front of the interviewer, you may well discover that they don't really care whether you have a science degree or indeed any sales experience. They do want to be sure that you can get appointments with doctors and stick in front of them while presenting your case.

The other problem with pharmaceutical sales is that you won't immediately get a purchase order for your product, unlike in other industries. You may not know for a while whether you made a sale or not.

On the plus side though, apart from this being one of the top paying sales jobs, you'll certainly get a company car and some great travel opportunities. If you like your food, you'll be pleased to know that some doctors will expect you to take them out to lunch while you discuss business; naturally you'll be able to claim the cost back on your expenses. Also if you do some research and find a company with several top selling products, your sales job won't be so very difficult.

Another of the top paying sales jobs is medical sales. This involves selling medical equipment to doctors, hospitals, medical clinics, nursing homes and indeed anywhere where such equipment might be needed. Unlike pharmaceuticals, there isn't so much of the repeat business in this sort of selling, except for small instruments. However, the big sales of the costly equipment won't come along very often unless you're selling a brand new but highly publicised piece of kit.

Of course, the medical equipment companies will train you on their specific equipment and inform you about their competitors, but it all sounds like very hard work doesn't it?

Don't worry though, there is an alternative. What about internet sales? You get to be your own boss and to set your own hours. You don't have to travel all over the country meeting strangers and getting home late every night. Now doesn't that sound a bit more appealing?
