Perhaps the thoughts and feelings we have about speaking in public and also speaking to a group of our peers give us very mixed emotions about making high school graduation speeches. There is no reason we should not give a very good speech but we are always going to have an element of fear in our approach which is probably why we will work hard and make it a good one.

However let’s say you are a graduate and you are having to make a speech this year. You may or may not have made speeches before but you are the one speaker who should relax a little bit more than the other as you have a lot of natural advantages over the others. A good way to proceed is to think about these advantages and see how you can make the most of them. Of course you still have to work as hard as every other speaker, write a flowing speech in proper English and you still have to practice your delivery as many times as you can. High school graduation speeches are no different to other speeches in that respect.

If you can imagine that your final draft speech will be split into three main sections. The first section will be all about the past and what has happened to both you and the class. You can use the speech to pick up any points that you wish to make in terms of the overall topic as you go. The central part will be about the graduation day and the celebration of achievement. The final part will be to look ahead to the bright and challenging future you all have. Within this framework you will be able to get in all the thanks you need to family, friends, teachers and mentors. You can also congratulate the graduates and hope their love their celebrations. You can also wish them all the best for the future and tell them honestly how much you will miss them. This framework will allow you to express your high school graduation speeches.

In terms of high school graduation speeches material you will know all the things good and bad that have happened. You know the funny stories, issues that have arisen and the main personalities involved. You know your own story and how you have viewed the school. For example, you may have been new to the school in the past year and you will be able to say just how much everyone has made you feel welcome and what that has meant to you. You also know how hard you have all worked and just how much the success of graduation means to you all. In the example of the new person to the school you may have an overall topic of how hard it is to make big changes. All this material can help you say where the challenges are, what everyone did to help and even add any areas for improvement in a respectful way. You can use the lessons so far on big change to make your own statements on how challenging the future will be and what the graduates can do to cope with the changes coming in their lives.

Your high school graduation speeches can be pieced together very well and that leaves you free to add some jokes and funny stories. Then you need to work hard to make sure you deliver the best high school graduation speeches.
