The new submission rules which I promised were coming in a previous post are now live on the site. This could really open up the Author Contests, especially the “Prince” contest. Almost all of the “Prince Of Category” positions are still up for grabs with no single author out of reach in any category. This new submission credits feature could really shake things up a bit.

This site is not just run by articles, it is run by article moderation and ranking too. By filtering out the dross “spammy” content, we have created a site that provides a valuable resource of articles in every niche that we publish articles in.

If we did not moderate the articles, we would not have the traffic that we have today. The site would be of little value to anyone, as any decent articles would be drowning in a sea of dross and too hard to find. An article directory that does not moderate content is never a nice place to visit and if no-one visits the site that your content is published on, there is little point having it published there. That is not the kind of site I want to run.

The new article submission credits system has been designed to give those who help to moderate the articles more recognition on the site and a clear advantage in the author contests.

By moderating articles you can earn credits to submit more articles;  if you can submit more articles, you have a better chance of winning the contest(s) because there will be more articles to generate an accumulative score from. It’s a simple as that. However, don’t think you simply rate 3 articles without reading them. We will be watching!

You may have already noticed the new Wibiya Toolbar on the Article Content King web site and wondered what is was. So I am going to tell you… It’s pretty cool and is already driving additional traffic to the articles on site.

We were approved as “beta testers” for the tool bar on Monday and I decided to add it right away. To me, it’s a lot cooler than the Google Friend Connect social bar we had before. (We are still using GFC for comments).

The Wibiya toolbar is currently in beta and may be blocked if you use I.E. but it works well in FireFox.  Also they are only offering a fixed number of tools, but they are promising a lot more to come. Judging by what they are offering already, I’m excited about what they may have planned.

Here is how the Wibiya tools bar is working to increase traffic to the site and make it a more “social” place.

The Wibiya tool bar allows visitors to connect their Facebook account with Article Content King and join our Facebook community with one click. Members can add other members as Facebook friends directly from the site and post messages in the community for all to see. Joining the community could prove a great way to get more Facebook friends and traffic, especially if you post something to the community. Remember, every visitor to the page has access to the community.

It tracks all the “Twitter Tweets”. When ever anyone “Tweets” any article, it appears on the toolbar. You can see all the “Tweets” that are happening by clicking the “Twitter” icon on the bar. Visitors can also “Tweet” any page to Twitter using the tool bar.

The toolbar has links to popular social bookmarking sites, making it easy for visitors to bookmark articles that they enjoyed.

There is a translator on the toolbar, which can be used to translate any page into any of 10 different languages with one click.

There’s also a link to subscribe to the blog feed, a search engine (which is actually better than the one on the site) and links to the most recent articles and random articles.

It’s a pretty cool toolbar. I hope you like it too.

New Site Feature — Wibiya Tool Bar

Author: Dan Blackburn | Filed under: Article Content King News

We have been working hard over the last week or so to bring some really quite cool new features and benefits to members of article content king.

Author Profile Pages

Every author on the site now has their own profile page. (see example here). Your author profile page will contain the 5 most recent and the 5 most popular articles submitted by the author, as well as an author bio, links to favorite websites and a place to display “Widgets” from other social media sites. This page has been designed to give more recognition and traffic to every author on the site.

Your author profile page also doubles up as an article-content-king.com affiliate link. If anyone joins article-content-king though the link on your profile page, you get credit for the referral and begin earning advertising credits when their articles are viewed on the site.

You also earn TWO advertising credits every time someone visits your author profile page.

You get a profile page for every author alias that you create. You need to log in and activate your profile page before it will be promoted within all your articles published on the site.

Author Ranking System

As well as giving authors their own profile pages on their site, we have also introduced an author ranking system, based on the number of articles published and ranking of those articles. Full details here. Authors can display their author status on other websites via a little “java script snippet” which is available on the Author profile pages.

The snippet will display an image corresponding to the authors current status and will automatically update as the author moves up the ranks. Adding your author status to other websites is a great way of driving more traffic to your articles and author profile page.

Author Contest — Who will be the KING of Article Content King?

Starting at the end of August 2009 we will be declaring a King (or Queeen) of Article Content King every month.

The Article Content King will be the author who has the highest cumulative article score. Basically, we take all the articles submitted by an author and add up all the scores*. The author with the highest score will be declared “Article Content King” (or Queen).

A King (or Queen) should have Princes (or Princesses), so in addition to declaring a King every month, we will also declare up to 22 Princes (or Princesses). One for each main category on the site. The Prince (or Princesses) will be the author with the highest cumulative score of articles in a particular category. (i.e. total score of all articles by the author in a particular category).

The contest is available to every author who has activated their author profile page. If you have several author aliases, each author will be entered into the contest separately.
